NORFOLK, Neb. -- Access Period received sponsorship money that will allow them to expand their access.

Access Period is a non-profit organization that provides menstrual products to those in need for free. This sponsorship will allow the organization to expand their help across Nebraska.

Healthy Blue Nebraska gave Access Period a sponsorship of $150,000.

In a press release from Access Period, community members will have access to free period supplies in each of the five Healthy Blue Welcome Rooms in Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Kearney, Scottsbluff.

The organization provides three-month kits that include pads or tampons, liners, personal wipes, and disposal bags.

Access Period said that partner organizations in each community can refer their clients to the Welcome Room to provide free period kits.

There will be a Norfolk kick-off event on Jan. 30 at 11:30 a.m. It will be at the Healthy Blue Welcome Room at 500 S 13th St. in Norfolk, Neb.

Access Period said that there will be a partner meeting and period supply packing party that follows the kick-off event.

"We believe that access to basic needs like period supplies is a human right, and we are thrilled that Healthy Blue has provided this opportunity to share menstrual products with communities across Nebraska," said Kristin Lowrey, Access Period founder.

Access Period said they partner with existing non-profits to reach those experiencing the greatest need. They said that people interested in helping end period poverty can get involved by hosting a product donation drive, volunteering their time, or making a monetary donation.
