PIERCE, Neb. -- One of the top quarterbacks in the state made his college decision official Wednesday, signing with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Pierce senior Abram Scholting announced on Twitter last week that he was committing to UNK and new coach Ryan Held for his collegiate career. On Wednesday at Pierce High School, he put pen to paper to make it official.

Scholting re-wrote a slew of records over the course of his career with the Bluejays.

The two-time state champion passed for over 6,400 career yards. He also set a new 11-man record with 99 touchdown passes.

He also set new career passing completion percentage records in Class C-1 for a single season and for a career.

Scholting chose UNK over offers from other Division II schools like Wayne State, Northern State, Central Missouri and South Dakota School of Mines. He had also received a preferred walk-on offer from Iowa State, where teammate Ben Brahmer signed as a scholarship tight end.
