State swim and dive championships finishes with tie at the top of the girls podium

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The NSAA 2023 Nebraska state swim and dive championships finished up at the Bob Devaney sports center Saturday afternoon.
Creighton Prep ran away with the boys' side, finishing with 423.5 points. Elkhorn and Lincoln East rounded off the top three.
On the girls' side, a back-and-forth matchup all week long finished in a tie between Omaha Westside and Omaha Marian at 339 points after the final 400yd freestyle relay. Lincoln Southwest finished in third place.
Individually, Texas commit Nate Germanprez of Westside finished atop the podium several times today. That includes his 200yd freestyle swim, in which he set a personal best 1:33.96, the effort was less than a second away from the national high school record.
He set another career best in the 100yd freestyle at 43.17 in the final individual race of his high school career.
In the girls 500yd freestyle, Omaha Marian's Alaira Hanford kept Lincoln Southeast's Natalya Woods from her three-peat in the event, edging out the reigning champion by less than a tenth of a second.
