WAYNE, Neb. -- The Wayne State Wildcats are back on the field for spring practice after an exciting season last fall, which saw the program win its first ever conference title and reach the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.

Head Coach Logan Masters stressed that this spring is focused on leaning on experience to add last season’s success.

“A lot of things to really be proud of and keep building on,” he said. “Next step is to prove it, that last year wasn’t a fluke.”

Junior Linebacker Alex Kowalczyk said with large goals in mind, the team is fully locked in and keeping intensity high for each spring practice.

“It makes the practice more intense, everyones got a goal in mind,” he said. “You know its possible now and you just want to get it done.”

Junior Quarterback Nick Bohn said the potential of this group for the upcoming season is creating an intense energy, even months before the first kickoff.

“We’ve had a really tough offseason and going into spring we just want to prove it every day,” he said. “Everyone’s bringing the energy.”

Masters said he's thrilled how his experienced core of upperclassmen have fostered in the new guys to what has instantly become a winning culture in Wayne.

“They know what we’re thinking, they know how we do things,” he said. “Its really cool to see.”

Expectations are high, and for Kowalczyk and the Wildcats the goals are set.

“Winning another conference championship, hopefully going undefeated, making the playoffs, and making another run,” he said.
