NORFOLK, Neb. -- Multiple Norfolk Public Schools students are being recognized by a national safety group.

Liz Wicker, who is a member of the Norfolk Junior Optimist club, picked up first place in this year's "Driving the Message" contest, which was sponsored by Teens in the Driver Seat. TDS is a nationwide peer-to-peer safety program.

With Wicker's win comes a $1,000 prize to help the TDS team at Norfolk Senior High School continue promoting safe driving behaviors among their classmates.

It was also announced Tuesday that Wicker, Kylie Sisson and Conner Fick were selected to represent Norfolk High and Nebraska TDS as members of the TDS Teen Advisory Board.

It will be the second year that Wicker and Sisson will serve on the board, while it is the first time Fick has been chosen as a TAB member.

The three Norfolk students will be the only representatives from Nebraska this year. They will be involved in helping guide TDS efforts nationwide during the 2023-24 school year.
