NORFOLK - A new feature coming to northeast Nebraska this summer will give kids a chance to get outside and enjoy a good book at the same time.

The City of Norfolk is constructing a storybook trail and playground just north of the public library in Warren Cook Park.

In addition to having an all-ages playground, the park will feature a walking trail that loops around with different stations where kids can read different parts of a story.

The trail is being constructed using additional funds from the bond the city used to renovate the library in 2017.

City Parks & Recreation Director Nate Powell says the storybook trail portion should be open by the end of May, while the playground will be done sometime in late summer or early fall.
