A plan to redevelop Norfolk's historic building into a boutique hotel has been approved.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A plan to redevelop Norfolk's historic building has been unanimously approved by the City Council.
On Monday, Norfolk city council discussed a plan which will redevelop the Kensington Building on Fourth Street.
The redevelopment is part of an initiative by Ho-Chunk Capitol to turn the Kensington into a boutique hotel after they purchase the building.
The plan will consist of the restoration and redevelopment of the building with 62 rooms, a restaurant, a meeting space, a fitness room, and a business center.
"Just to relay this has been a long discussion," said Mayor Josh Moenning. "I think it's a tremendous investment in downtown Norfolk that will help boost our tourism and economic developments in the community."
The redevelopment will also include changes to N Fourth Street including traffic controls, landscaping, improvements to streets and sidewalks, and adding a drop-off lane.
TIF financing will be used to fund the project with the redeveloper asking for $1,950,000. The total project is estimated to cost over $14 million.
