NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Norfolk museum will be hosting a nature challenge at the end of the month.

The Elkhorn Valley Museum will be hosting a Bioblitz event at Verges Park between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

EVM said that the event is part of the City Nature Challenge and is one of many such events happening across the state.

The museum is asking that community members help identify the different species of plants, animals, and other wildlife that are part of the ecosystem in Verges Park.

EVM said that those attending can help by using the free app iNaturalist.

With iNaturalist members can photograph and even record animal sounds that can be uploaded, identified, verified and then used as scientific data.

According to Executive Director Libby McKay, throughout the afternoon there will be scavenger hunts available and Nature Story times will happen on the cabin porch at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The nature challenge is a free even allowing those who attend to connect and observe the natural world around, right in the middle of town.
