Premiere for documentary of annual Norfolk event announced

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Big Bang Boom, Inc. announced that their feature-length documentary film “Behind the Boom” will have its first local premiere in Norfolk on two Saturdays in June. The film will be publicly screened at the CEC Norfolk 7 Theatres on Saturday, June 3 and again on Saturday, June 10.
Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. each day with showings to follow shortly after. The admission charge for the film will be a freewill donation to Big Bang Boom. All funds donated will go into putting on the annual fireworks display.
“Behind the Boom” was selected for screening at the 18th Annual Omaha Film Festival and was one of 11 documentaries featured during the multi-day event in March. The film finished production in October 2021, but was unable to be publicly shown at that time due to film festival guidelines.
The film was directed and produced by northeast Nebraska native Brittnay Therese Dawson. Dawson now lives in Florida where she is the Executive Producer for Emerald Design Bar.
Boomfest 2023 will be held at Norfolk’s Skyview Lake and Park o Friday and Saturday, June 30 and July 1. The two-day event leads to the fireworks display at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
