PENDER, Neb. -- A major Nebraska fundraising event officially celebrated reaching the quarter-century milestone this weekend.
The Nebraska Cattlemen's Ball was held in Pender Friday and Saturday.
Since the inaugural event in 1998, the Cattlemen's Ball has raised nearly $20 million to fund cancer research.
The event rotates to different parts of the state each year, giving 90 percent of the proceeds to the Buffett Cancer Center, while the remaining 10 percent is returned to the local community for health and wellness initiatives.
This year's event was held on the Weborg farm just east of Pender.
The festivities included a live auction, an art and wine tent, a 5K race, a serenity garden, bull riding and a live concert by country music superstar Josh Turner.
Members of the Guardian Angels Central Catholic football team helped set up the facility for the concert.
Over 4,000 people attended the event, quadrupling the population of Pender over the weekend.
