OMAHA, Neb. -- An acid spill in southwest Omaha left nearby businesses sheltering in place on Wednesday.
According to the Omaha Fire Department, crews found hydrochloric acid running along J Street from a storage area of Consolidated Water Solutions.
Hazardous materials teams contained the spill and neutralized the chemicals with soda ash.
“It was pouring through the streets,” said nearby worker Ethan Lucas. “I don’t know if it melted through, but I just saw them pouring [stuff] down.”
Authorities closed J Street between 96th and 102nd Streets.
No injuries were reported.
