MADISON, Neb. – A northeast Nebraska man accused of threatening two women with an explosive device waived a preliminary hearing on Thursday, but he is now facing two new felony charges.

37-year-old Kelly Red Tomahawk, whose listed home address is in Beemer, was arrested May 11. Authorities received reports of two women being held against their will by Red Tomahawk, who was driving them into Norfolk. All three reportedly got into the car at a home in Randolph where Red Tomahawk and one of the women were living.

After his arrest, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, authorities recorded phone calls made between Red Hawk and one of the alleged victims.

During the calls, Red Tomahawk reportedly told one of the victims, “I’m not threatening you. I’m telling you straight out, I will kill you and whoever is with you.”

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Red Tomahawk made the threat on June 5.

He was also accused of trying to convince one of the alleged victims to “get seductive” with a deputy county attorney and retract her statements to law enforcement.

He is now accused of witness tampering and terroristic threats. He is due in Madison County Court next week on both charges.

In addition to the two new charges, Red Tomahawk faces seven felony charges related to the May 11 arrest, including two charges of terroristic threats, two counts of false imprisonment, one count of possession of a destructive device, one count of possession of a controlled substance, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

An additional felony count from the May incident, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, was dismissed by prosecutors on Thursday.
