FRHS one of 292 to receive award for treating heart attack patients nationally

Faith Regional Health Services announced they received an award for being one of the top performing hospitals for treating heart attack patients in the nation.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Faith Regional Health Services announced they received an award for being one of the top performing hospitals for treating heart attack patients in the nation. 

On Friday, FRHS said they received the American College of Cardiology's NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2023. 

The hospital was one of 262 hospitals nationwide that receive the honor. 

According to the press release, to receive this award FRHS has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain - MI Registry for two consecutive years, and performed at the highest level for specific performance measures. 

Fully participating in the registry engages hospitals in a vigorous quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients. 

"It is an honor to award Faith Regional Health Services with the Platinum Performance Award for their valuable national leadership and dedication to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care," said Michael C. Kontos, MD, FACC chair of the NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, and Cardiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. 

Kontos said that receiving the award shows that FRHS continues to be "committed to providing top quality, guideline-driven care for heart attack patients."

The press release said that the Centers for Disease Control estimates that over 800,00 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. 

"We are honored to have received the Chest Pain - MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award," said Brian Blecher, Faith Regional Physician Services Chief Operating Officer. "This recognition given by the American College of Cardiology reinforces Faith Regional's unwavering commitment to provide the best possible heart care for our patients an communities."
