Carpet Land American Legion, also known as Lincoln East, is on the brink of a historic title.

The Lincoln Legion team defeated a team from Cheyenne Wyoming 2-1, and is now headed to the American Legion World Series Championship.

Ryan Clementi earned the save for Carpet Land, with 8 strikeouts in 5 innings, only allowing 4 hits and 1 run.

The team is now headed to North Carolina to take on the winner of the following game versus the Star Winner and Stripes game. One team is from Texas and the other from New Jersey.

If Lincoln East brings home the championship, they would become just the second Nebraska squad to do so since the tournament began in 1926.

A team from Omaha won the crown 84 years ago - in 1939.
