LENRD approves final tax request for 2024 fiscal year
NORTHEAST, Neb. -- A natural resource district in northeast Nebraska has finalized its tax request for next year.
The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resource District (LENRD) unanimously approved its budget and tax request for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Gathering on Thursday board members approved a property tax request of $4,896,906. It's increasing by 8.28% compared to last year's budget with an additional $374,433 compared to last year.
To fulfill this request the LENRD also approved a property tax levy of 2.2586 cents per $100 of actual evaluation. It's a decrease from last year's 2.2968 cents per $100 of actual evaluation.
While the tax request is going up, the budget of overall operating expenditures is going down.
The LENRD projects expenditures to be $12,049,933, a 12.9% decrease from last year's $13,844,967 in expenditures.
Major expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year projects include levee/flood protection projects, water resources, project construction, and flood-related repairs.
