MADISON, Neb. -- Following his bond review hearing, Jeffrey Stewart appeared in Madison County's District Court on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty.

Stewart's not guilty plea is for the Class 2A Felony in the theft by unlawful taking of $5,000+ stealing from the North Fork Area Transit in 2022.

His case was bound over to District Court on Sept. 27. He had his bond sent at $1 million on Sept. 29 during his bond review hearing.

Stewart's next appearance will be for his pre-trail which is scheduled for Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.

His jury trial is currently scheduled for Jan. 9, 2024 at 9 a.m.

Back in 2022, it was reported that Stewart stole $750,00 from NFAT. The information came out shortly after NFAT was unable to make pay roll and had an emergency city meeting in December 2022.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office arrested Stewart in July at the Texas-Mexico border.
