Iowa woman sent to hospital with injuries in Stanton County accident

STANTON, Neb. -- Authorities in Stanton County say they investigated an accident that sent a 74-year-old woman to the hospital Monday afternoon.
The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said that Monday just before 12:30 p.m., they responded to and investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 275 and Highway 57 junction, near Spurville.
The accident reportedly sent a 74-year-old woman to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
SCSO said the accident happened when a transport van was heading west on Highway 275 and slowing down to turn onto 566th Ave.
The van was reportedly hit from behind by a car heading west, driven by a 74-year-old woman from Denison, Iowa.
The Sheriff's Office said the Iowa woman was taken from the scene by Stanton EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
The 36-year-old driver of the van was not injured.
SCSO said that seatbelts were in use in both vehicles. Airbags reportedly deployed in the Iowa woman's vehicle, leaving the car a total loss.
The accident blocked a portion of Highway 275 for about 45 minutes.
