10 Northeast Nebraska football teams in action

Northeast Nebraska had ten teams in action on Friday. Luke Stara has the updates for the region's high school playoff teams.

Northeast Nebraska -- With some teams continuing and some teams beginning their playoff runs, ten northeast Nebraska teams were in action on Friday.

Starting in class C-1, Pierce began their playoff run at home against #12 Omaha Roncalli Catholic. 

The Bluejays were able to hold off the Crimson Pride using a 20-0 lead in the first half to win 34-14.

#5 Pierce will take a trip across the state next Friday to take on #4 Sidney.

Top-seeded Norfolk Catholic welcomed Aquinas Catholic to Veterans Memorial Field. 

The Knights gained a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and continued momentum throughout the rest of the contest, winning 42-12.

#1 Norfolk Catholic advances to the second round to take on Kearney Catholic in Norfolk next Friday.

#1 Stanton kept the momentum going in the second round of the playoffs.

The top-ranked Mustangs held off Summerland with a 60-30 win over the Bobcats.

Stanton advanced to the quarterfinals and will face #8 Arapahoe.
