CENTRAL CITY - The Plainview girls earned their first-ever trip to the state tournament with a resounding 50-38 district final win over Wilcox-Hildreth Friday night.

The Pirates' suffocating defense forced several early Falcon turnovers en route to a 25-11 first half lead. Teya Boyer led her squad with 14 points, while Madelynn Dougherty and Abigail Kromarek each notched 13, despite Kromarek missing most of the first half with foul trouble.

Madison Bunger did all she could for Wilcox-Hildreth in a losing cause, tallying 17 points and 6 blocks. The Falcons narrowed the 14-point deficit down to 6 midway through the 4th, but Kromarek iced the game from the charity stripe by hitting four straight free throws down the stretch.

The Falcons' season comes to an end, while the Pirates make their inaugural voyage to the state tourney.
