MADISON COUNTY, Neb. -- Two teens were injured after a vehicle lost control along Highway 81 Monday.

The incident occurred around 6:31 a.m. on Monday, when a 17-year-old was driving northbound on Highway 81 towards Norfolk with a 15-year-old passenger.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office said the driver attempted to make a lane change when they lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center median sending the front of the vehicle into a semi truck's trailer.

According to the Sheriff's Office, both passengers of the vehicle received injuries. The 17-year-old had a leg injury and the 15-year-old had injuries to their knee and head.

Madison County said the teen lost control due to the wet road conditions and hail.

The driver of the semi was uninjured, but the trailer and vehicle are considered a total loss.

Seatbelts were in use during the time of the crash.
