NORFOLK, Neb. (KOLN) -- Authorities have arrested a Lindsay man in connection to a drug bust in Norfolk last year.

Michael Reichmuth, 35, was lodged in the Madison County Jail on Monday. He’s charged with one count of conspiracy to deliver cocaine, a class II felony.

Reichmuth’s arrest follows two other drug-related arrests in the Norfolk area toward the end of 2023. He became a suspect after troopers arrested 22-year-old Israel Hernandez, of Norfolk, on Nov. 6, 2023.

An undercover investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol had been in contact with a man thought to be in Mexico and arranged a drug deal. The man would send three pounds of methamphetamine for $9,000.

The man told investigators that the deal would take place in an alley near a Norfolk restaurant. Hernandez would deliver the drugs, according to an arrest affidavit.

Hernandez met with another undercover trooper and was arrested. During his arrest, troopers alleged Hernandez pulled out a loaded .380 automatic handgun.

As the investigation went on, authorities went through Hernandez’s phone and found texts between him and Reichmuth. Court records also show Hernandez had shared over 3,000 texts with an associate of Reichmuth, and he had just began speaking to Reichmuth directly in October of 2023.

The texts revealed Reichmuth had been trying to purchase cocaine, fentanyl and potentially MDMA from Hernandez, prosecutors allege. A search of Hernandez’s vehicle also turned up several checks from Reichmuth.

Authorities also found checks from Reichmuth written to a different Norfolk man. A trooper wrote that this man was a known fentanyl, meth and cocaine dealer. He currently faces two federal charges related to the sale of fentanyl and meth.

Hernandez is also lodged in the Madison County Jail. His bond was set at 10% of $1,000,000 in 2023.

On Monday, he took a plea deal and was found guilty on one count of possession of a firearm while committing a felony. His sentencing is scheduled for July 19.

As for Reichmuth, his arraignment is scheduled for June 11. Jail records show his bond was set at 10% of $500,000.
