NORFOLK, Neb. -- Estefan Bernardino Chavez, 30, from Norfolk, faced justice on June 6, 2024, in Omaha's federal court.

Chavez received a hefty sentence of 30 years in prison for his involvement in producing child pornography. There is no parole in the federal system.

Following his release, he will serve 15 years under supervised release and must register as a sex offender.

Additionally, Chavez was ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution and a $3,100 special assessment.

Chavez's criminal activity came to light on February 28, 2023, when he tried to access an online platform via the Tor network, aimed at sharing illicit child pornography.

Utilizing his home IP address in Norfolk, Chavez registered an account and shared a video featuring himself and a minor engaging in explicit conduct.

Prompt action by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force led to Chavez's arrest on March 1, 2023, following the execution of a search warrant at his residence.
