HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) has launched a search for Jason Sitzman, 47, of Yankton, who evaded law enforcement across state lines on Wednesday evening.

The pursuit began when South Dakota Highway Patrol alerted NSP around 4:15 p.m. that a motorcycle, heading south towards Nebraska, was being chased.

The rider, Sitzman, was suspected to be wanted under an arrest warrant.

The pursuit was halted by South Dakota troopers when they got to the Nebraska border.

Later developments pointed to the Chalkrock Wildlife Management Area in northern Cedar County as a possible location for Sitzman. NSP, alongside Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska Game and Parks, and Cedar County Emergency Management, mobilized to the area.

Despite an extensive search utilizing drones and an NSP helicopter, only the motorcycle was recovered; Sitzman remained elusive.

Authorities continue to seek any information that could lead to Sitzman's apprehension. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the Nebraska State Patrol. The incident underscores the collaborative efforts among law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety across state jurisdictions.

Anyone with information regarding Sitzman’s whereabouts is asked to call the Nebraska State Patrol at 402-370-3456. There is no threat to the public.
