OSMOND, Neb. — One of the top recruits in the state was in northeast Nebraska to help kids learn football.

Linebacker and wide receiver Christian Jones is the top ranked recruit in Nebraska and ranks in the top 100 in the nation, according to ESPN.

The Omaha Westside Warrior plays in the big city but his family is from Osmond, a small community in northeast Nebraska.

“My grandparents still live here [and] my dad played on this field,” Jones said. “[We] had a funny talk on the way up here. It’s kind of crazy that I’m able and blessed to have the opportunity to even put this camp on.”

Current high school coaches and Nebraska Cornhuskers helped Jones out, teaching the third - eighth graders everything from tackling form to route running.

Jones says the camp is for the young generation get better at the sport, but to also reach out to the community.

“I’m very grateful to even be in this spot to even have this interview," Jones said. "Just being here for the kids because the community did a lot for me when I played football. They’d always show love and [were] always right there for me. I’m ready to give back.”

Alongside experience on the field, Jones has visited many colleges on recruiting visits.

It’s something he hopes to take back to his teammates for the upcoming season.

“I’d say just being able to pick their [coaches] brains,” Jones said “All the drills, just small information, that will help me, and so, I can share that with my team so we can all get better.”

Jones has received multiple Division-1 offers such as Nebraska, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Iowa.

Westside repeated as Class A champions last season with a 56-0 win.
