NEBRASKA -- Nebraska's Supreme Court has a new Chief Justice.

Gov. Jim Pillen Friday appointed Jeffrey Funke to the post at an event in Lincoln.

Funke was chosen over three other finalists. He currently sits on the State's High Court, so there will soon be another vacancy on the bench.

Funke takes over for Chief Justice Mike Heavican who is retiring next Friday after 18 years.
