PIERCE, Neb. -- It was Sunday, Oct. 12 when Chris Andersen was at work having visible facial problems and slurred speech.
As most men can be at times, Chris Andersen was a little hesitant that something could be severely wrong but notified his wife, Shelby, and mom for a second opinion.
Once arriving, doctors got right to work on a spinal tap and a stroke test that unfortunately came back inconclusive.
“They tried again and the test came back positive and the result was Multiple Sclerosis," said Marcia Andersen. "The doctors will give him injections starting Monday, Oct. 11 and this will help him function like he use to.”
Chris Andersen has a long road to recovery, but the injections will help with his long term exhaustion. To help offset the cost of injections, hospital stays and traveling back and forth to Omaha; the community hosted a benefit in Pierce.
It included a free will donation for a meal, silent auction, and a bake sale to help cut down the price of incoming bills.
Marcia Andersen said, “If you are not able to help financially, we understand, but please pray for Chris and the family during this difficult time."
