STANTON - For the first time since 2018, the Stanton Mustangs knocked off the Norfolk Catholic Knights 41-39 in a back and forth affair.

The Mustangs (1-2) and the Knights (2-1) started moving the ball quickly, with both offenses finding points on fast breaks and working on the inside.

Grace Kosch nailed two three's and racked up 8 first quarter points to lead the scoring for the Knights, while Skyler Siebrandt's 6 point start helped Stanton start with an early 17-16 advantage after a high-scoring first frame.

The three's kept coming for Norfolk Catholic in the second quarter, helping the Knights retake the lead into halftime 25-23.

The Knights charged out of the third quarter and led by as many as 8-points, but the Mustangs climbed back and tied the game late in the fourth quarter.

With under 8 seconds on the clock, Olivia Hupp found Skyler Siebrandt under the basket for the catch and shoot bucket right at the rim. It gave the Mustangs a 41-39 lead with under 5 seconds remaining.

Norfolk Catholic was unable to convert the half court heave and Stanton clutched on to the narrow victory.

Stanton's Skyler Siebrandt led all scorers with 15 points, while Kelby Pohlman and Olivia Hupp tacked on 8 and 6 points respectively.

Grace Kosch led the way for the Knights with 14 points, followed by Sidonia Wattier with 10 points.

Both teams even up their record to 2-2 early in the season.
