MADISON, Neb. -- Northeast Nebraska law enforcement are responding to a fire southeast of Madison, near Leigh.

Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says visibility is low in the area.

"Stay away," said Tim Reeves, Madison Fire Chief. "It's so smokey and there's so much traffic, so many trucks, apparatus on the roads right now. It's very dangerous to be out here right now."

According to the National Weather Service, "wind gusts 45-61 mph have produced very high fire danger, kicked up a few fires, reduced visibility due to blowing dust, and made driving high profile vehicle difficult."
