TILDEN - In a rare coincidence, the Elkhorn Valley boys and girls won by identical scores over the Stanton Mustangs Tuesday night, 63-38.

The undefeated Falcon girls jumped out to a scorching start, going up 11-0 before Stanton's Karsyn Dusatko came off the bench to dent the scoreboard for the Mustangs just before the end of the first period. Elkhorn Valley streaked to a 37-8 halftime lead and never looked back in a 25-point win. EV's J.J. Black and Stanton's Bergan Pohlman tied for the scoring lead with 14 apiece. The Falcons' Cameron Rutjens and Karlee Broberg also finished in double digits with 13 and 10 respectively. Skyler Siebrandt of the Mustangs dominated defensively with 6 blocks.

The boys half of the double dip was like a rerun, as they jumped out to 10-point advantage in the 1st and held serve the rest of the way, never letting Stanton get closer than a 7-point difference. Kellyn Ollendick had a blockbuster night with 27 points, while Korbin Werner chipped in 17. Barrett Wilke led the way for the Mustangs with 14, while Logan Tiedtke poured in four 3's for Stanton, totaling 12 points on the evening.

Stanton (7-6 girls, 1-12 boys) hit the road to Plainview Thursday, and Elkhorn Valley (13-0 girls, 10-2 boys) are at Niobrara-Verdigre Friday.
