WAYNE - Points were at a premium in the Boys C1-5 Subdistrict Semifinal Tuesday night, as Wayne's defense dominated Pierce 41-22 to advance the Blue Devils to the finals on Thursday.

The game was tight through one period with Wayne edging Pierce 9-7, and then the drought began. The Blue Jays managed a mere 2 points in the 2nd, with the Devils leading 17-9 at the break. The hometown team extended their lead to 10 after the third quarter when the Jays only eked out 5 more points. Wayne then won going away in the 4th, forcing 12 Pierce turnovers overall.

Colson Nelson paced Wayne with 13, while sophomore Jaxson Kneifl buried four 3-pointers to finish with 12. Keaton Frazier led the way for the Jays with 12 on the night.

The Blue Devils will face Boys Town Thursday in the Subdistrict final.
