NORFOLK, Neb. -- The City of Norfolk reminds residents and businesses that the voter-approved sales tax increase will take effect on Apr. 1, 2025. The local sales and use tax rate will increase from 1.5% to 2%, bringing the total sales tax rate to 7.5%.

Approved by voters in November 2024, this half-cent increase will fund the expansion and renovation of the Norfolk Police Division’s facilities, enhancing public safety services for the community.

The tax increase will remain in effect for 48 months, ending on Mar. 31, 2029. The project is estimated to cost approximately $10.5 million, with additional funds allocated for street repairs throughout the city.
