FREMONT, Neb. -- A 41-year-old Fremont man was sentenced to more than 23 years in prison for child pornography charges.

On Mar. 6, 2025, David McCown was sentenced to 280 months in prison for the production and attempted production of child porn.

When he completes his sentence, McCown will have a 10-year term of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender. There is no parole in the federal system.

He has also been ordered to pay restitution to one of the victims and to contribute to a fund established for victims of similar crimes.

The investigation started in July 2023 when the Fremont Police Department (FPD) received McCown's cellphone and other electronic devices, which were suspected of containing child porn.

A search warrant revealed multiple videos that had videos involving three minors known to McCown, with the files dated between 2020 and 2023. Following his arrest, McCown admitted to recording the videos during an interview with investigators.

This case highlights the collaborative efforts of the FPD and the FBI in addressing and prosecuting child exploitation crimes.
