STANTON, Neb. -- Around 7 a.m. Friday, authorities in northeast Nebraska responded to an accident that involved a jackknifed semi and trailer.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened on Highway 275 near 564th Ave., west of Highway 57.

The accident closed off most of the eastbound lanes.

On top of the semi being jackknifed, it was leaking diesel fuel.

The wreckage was cleared and the highway was open around 9 a.m.

There were also several vehicles that were reported to have slid off the county highways due to the poor road conditions and visibility.

Before 8 a.m., there was an accident reported when a jeep heading north lost control and entered the east ditch and rolled.

The driver and her daughter reportedly refused treatment at the scene. The jeep was a total loss.
