NORFOLK, Neb. -- To replace Dr. Jami Jo Thompson, The Norfolk school board interviewed both Lynn Johnson of Ceresco and Bill McAllister of West Point to see who will serve as the interim superintendent. After a long and lengthy interview process, The board voted unanimously to offer the contract as interim superintendent to Mr. Bill McAllister.

McAllister worked as interim assistant superintendent at South Sioux City from 2023-2024. He has experience as superintendent at both West Point-Beemer and West Holt. He ran for a spot on the Nebraska State Board of Education last year and lost to Lisa Schonhoff of Bennington.

“The board is currently in negotiations with Mr. Bill McAllister on his contract,” said Norfolk Public School Board President Brenda Carhart. “The next board meeting will take place May 12th to discuss where the contract stands. If more negotiations are needed, we will continue discussions on May 22nd.”

The interim superintendent will start on July 1.
