Omaha, NE - A South Dakota man will spend several years behind bars after being sentenced in federal court for a string of violent acts, including the sexual assault of a minor and a brutal assault that left an adult male seriously injured.

Mongecka Eastman, 24, of South Dakota, received a 10-year federal prison sentence in Omaha for assault and sexual abuse.

The charges stem from a 2021 sexual assault of a minor and a 2023 assault on an adult male on the Santee Sioux Nation Indian Reservation.

In the 2023 assault, the adult male victim suffered serious injuries.

The FBI investigated, leading to the federal prosecution due to the location of the crimes.
