NORFOLK, Neb. - The annual Big Give Fundraiser in Norfolk and the participating local organizations are contributing to strengthen and bring the community together.

The fundraiser started Thursday and ends Wednesday with a total of 26 organizations involved. Nonprofits like the Orphan Grain Train, Faith Regional Health Services Foundation, and the Liberty Centre are offering a variety of food and desserts in exchange for free will donations.

The Big Give raised $250,000 in 2024. As of late Tuesday, the charities had combined to raise more than $113,000 from a total of more than 780 donations.

Orphan Grain Train President Pastor Ray Wilke says the popularity of the event helps give exposure to all the other area non-profits.

"When everybody else has done their best, the need will still be there," Wilke said.

"Norfolk's a great community," Brittney Krings of Liberty Centre said. "People love to give back, so it's just fun to see the community come together."

If interested in participating, community members are encouraged to give online through the website ShareNorfolk.org or visit a giving station or event.
