PENDER, Neb. — Pender Community Hospital (PCH) is set to affiliate with Bryan Health of Lincoln, following a vote by the PCH Board of Directors.

Since 1913, Pender Community Hospital (PCH), a 21-bed critical access hospital with a 5-Star Rating, has provided excellent healthcare in northeast Nebraska, including rural health clinics, pharmacies, assisted living, and a child development center. 

Bryan Health, a Nebraska nonprofit serving the region for 100 years, collaborates with providers and communities and includes multiple medical centers, cancer centers, and various health-related services.

The partnership aims to enhance PCH's mission of delivering high-quality healthcare locally. According to PCH, patients can expect consistent care without changes to services or referrals.

Laura Gamble, CEO of PCH, emphasized the hospital's continued autonomy while benefiting from Bryan Health's resources. The affiliation will provide PCH with operational support, leadership guidance, and training opportunities. Bryan Health's expertise is expected to aid PCH in navigating financial challenges and ensuring long-term stability.

Pat Ganyo, Vice President and Executive Director of the Heartland Health Alliance at Bryan Health, noted the importance of addressing unique healthcare challenges in rural areas through partnerships. The PCH Board of Directors views the affiliation as a proactive measure to strengthen regional healthcare for current and future residents of northeast Nebraska.
