TJ Maxx has yet to come to the Sunset Plaza

NORFOLK, Neb.- A national store is still not open in Norfolk over a year after the anticipated opening.

A plan was put into place by the community development agency in October 2023 to update the old Herberger’s space to include three separate spaces, anticipated to be Kohl’s, Planet Fitness, and a TJ Maxx.

Kohl’s and Planet Fitness have opened and are doing business in the space.

TJ Maxx has a sign and a location, though a new opening date has not been announced.

A building permit for the construction was granted to Perkins Crister Construction in November 2023.

April of 2024 was the original opening date, that got pushed back to spring 2025.

News Channel Nebraska has reached out to developers who all have said they can not comment on the project.

Skylar Perkins, the leasing director of Perkins Properties, said that they are still looking to open the store and can not give any more information at this time.
