A Northeast Nebraska woman, represented by attorneys Nathan J. Stratton and Douglas J. Stratton, is seeking a new trial after a jury convicted her on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and accessory to a felony in connection to the death of Gene Twiford.

Her lawyers say, a new trial should be granted because there might have been problems with the evidence. Under Nebraska revised statute 29-2101, a new trial may be granted on several grounds, including insufficient evidence, newly discovered evidence, errors of law, and jury misconduct.

They believe that because of these issues, Carrie Jones didn't get a fair trial, which is her right under the U.S. and Nebraska Constitutions.

Jones is asking the court to grant her a new trial so that justice can be served. She is also asking for any other help the court thinks is fair.
