Norfolk, Neb. — A 67-year-old Norfolk man faces drug charges after an incident that began with the discovery of drug paraphernalia at a local business. On September 3, 2025, Norfolk Police Division officers responded to a call from a business on the 300 block of West Omaha Avenue, where employees had found a glass pipe near gaming machines.

According to store staff, the pipe was discovered shortly after Roger A. Humphrey was seen playing the machines for an extended period. Employees stated that no one else had been in the area after Humphrey's departure, a claim supported by surveillance footage reviewed by the store's general manager. The footage reportedly showed the pipe appearing only after Humphrey had been present.

Upon further investigation, the discovered glass pipe found in plain view was tested, and found positive for methamphetamine. An officer, familiar with Humphrey from prior encounters, identified him using the security footage.

On September 11, officers contacted Humphrey at his home, arresting him in connection with the earlier incident. A subsequent search revealed a bag containing Oxycodone pills for which Humphrey did not have a prescription. He was then charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was held at the Norfolk City Jail before being transferred to the Madison County Jail.
