O’Neill Fire Department officials say a caller reported the fire around 10:30 Sunday night at a house just west of the intersection of 7th St. and E. Douglas St. (Highway 275). According to a department social media post, firefighters encountered flames coming from the second story when they arrived. Officials say the fire was especially challenging to fight because the house was old and a three-story structure.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s Office determined the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

The fire department initially called for help from Atkinson Fire and later summoned departments from Ewing and Chambers to assist.

Crews remained on scene until about 4:00 Monday morning. The department's post didn't mention of any injuries.
