NORFOLK, Neb. — A teenager is in the hospital after an accident involving a tractor and an SUV.

It happened just after 10:00 Monday morning near the intersection of Highway 275 and Crown Road, which is about two miles east of Norfolk. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says a 15-year-old was driving the tractor and pulling a trailer on the highway when a Chevy Suburban hit the tractor from behind. The impact ejected the tractor driver onto the road and wedged the trailer into the SUV.

An ambulance transported the teenager to a local hospital for treatment.

“It is miraculous that the tractor driver was not more seriously injured or killed in the collision,” Sheriff Mike Unger said.

The Sheriff’s Office says a private vehicle took the SUV driver and passenger to a hospital.

Both vehicles are totaled. The highway’s westbound lanes were shut down for about an hour.
