For half a century, a Northeast Nebraska church has been the heart of its community, dedicating itself to giving back in countless ways.

This Christmas, St. Johns Lutheran Church and Good Neighbors in Norfolk are teaming up to bring holiday cheer to local families, making the season a little brighter and less stressful.

The community's generosity was on full display as cars lined up the driveway, with over a hundred people receiving delicious meals, a testament to the power of collective support.

“They give out food boxes from Good Neighbors as well as gift bags with those with family” said Good Neighbors volunteer Jim McKenzie. ”This particular year, we have 155 boxes going out.”

“In addition to the boxed foods, we give out cards for meat like ham, chicken, or turkey,” said Good Neighbors volunteer JoAnna Spence.

Organizers encourage anyone who still has the means to assist the less fortunate and help bring the community together to reach out to the church.

If you were unable to pick up a box, the remaining gifts were taken to the food pantry, where people may still go to pick up their boxes before Christmas.
