Train drags teen's pickup, minor injuries reported

A 19-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries after his pickup was struck by a train and dragged along railroad tracks in northeast Nebraska.

OSMOND, Neb. — A 19-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries after his pickup was struck by a train and dragged along railroad tracks Thursday afternoon in northeast Nebraska.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m., Carson Bolz of Osmond was driving north on South Main Street and Highway 20 and crossing railroad tracks, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say a westbound BNSF train hit Bolz’s pickup and dragged it about a quarter mile west before stopping. The railroad crossing is marked with yield signs.

Bolz was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Osmond Police Department, and Osmond Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
