Nearly $92 million in federal funding headed to Nebraska communities
Appropriations bill includes funding for infrastructure, water upgrades and Offutt Air Force Base
U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer says nearly $92 million in federal funding is headed to Nebraska following passage of a federal appropriations bill signed by President Donald Trump.
According to Fischer’s office, the funding includes improvements for small-town airports, fire hall facility upgrades in rural communities and roadway enhancements across parts of the state. About two-thirds of the funding is directed toward transportation, housing and development projects.
Another $7 million is designated for emergency communications departments.
An additional $18 million will support water treatment and infrastructure upgrades.
A majority of the federal funding allocated to Nebraska is focused on defense spending at Offutt Air Force Base.
The University of Nebraska system is also set to receive more than $40 million in combined funding.
