Bridgeport claims Western Trails Conference speech championship

Bridgeport wins Western Trails Conference speech title with multiple first-place finishes, including informative sweep and OID championship performance.

BRIDGEPORT, Neb. — Bridgeport Public Schools captured the Western Trails Conference speech championship, earning multiple individual and team titles across several events.

In serious prose, Kendal Deaver placed first and Jonathon Reimers finished sixth. Aaron Cooper led a dominant showing in humorous prose with a first-place finish, followed by Coote Mulloy in second and Ben Babic in third.

Bridgeport swept the top three spots in informative speaking. Annabel Sauer placed first, Jane Plummer was second and Mila Soto finished third. In persuasive speaking, Lizzie Higgins earned first, Sauer added a second-place medal and Drake Devrous placed fourth.

Taylor Bright won the program of oral interpretation event, while Deaver finished second. Alexis Liras placed second in poetry.

Emily Hunter claimed first in extemporaneous speaking, with Mulloy finishing sixth. In entertainment speaking, Emma Dohse took first, Cloie Mulloy placed second and Bright finished fourth.

Bridgeport also excelled in duet competition. Cooper and Hunter earned first place, while Plummer and Bright placed second.

In oral interpretation of drama, the team of Deaver, Cooper, Babic, Hunter and Liras captured first place. The group of Higgins, Mulloy, Dohse, Devrous and Reimers finished second.
