BLOOMFIELD - Creighton used an opportunistic defense and big buckets from three double-digit scorers to hold off Neligh-Oakdale 50-42 in the girls D1-5 Subdistrict play-in Monday night.

The Bulldogs and Warriors fought fiercely through the first quarter, with Creighton holding an 11-9 lead. Neligh-Oakdale was then shut out for the first half of the 2nd period, with the Bulldogs extending their advantage to 26-17 at the break.

Creighton went up by 13 at one point before the Warriors whittled the deficit to 3 early in the 4th. But cold free-throw shooting burned Neligh-Oakdale downed the stretch and the Bulldogs won going away.

Creighton's Jordyn Ebel led all scorers with 18, while her teammates Tatym Tauber and Michelle Neumann chipped in 10 apiece. Jacky Luna-Duran paced the Warriors with 15, and Rylee Tillema scored 10 in a losing cause.

Neligh Oakdale ends their season at 5-17, while Creighton (5-16) moves on to battle 23-0 Bloomfield in the semifinals Tuesday night.
