Positive response to the comeback of Soup R’ Art event
After more than five years, Soup R’ Art has returned to the Norfolk Arts Center.
NORFOLK, Neb.— After more than five years, Soup R’ Art has returned to the Norfolk Arts Center.
The event was held Saturday, bringing local artists and restaurants together inside the gallery.
Five soups were featured, flavors included short rib and apple, cheddar, corn and more. Around ten artists had work on display, and guests could vote for both their favorite soup and their favorite artist.
Executive Director Brandy Lee says the event previously operated in a different format , though she decided it was time to bring it back to the Center.
“When I first started, I was really looking at the artisans on the Avenue. We realized with weather and travel and everything just isn't a great fit,” Lee said. “So we decided to bring it back here, bring back Soup R’ Art and just do a big showcase here so that we can do this going forward to make it easier on artists, venders and patrons as well.”
By moving the event fully inside the Arts Center, Lee hopes it creates a better overall experience.
And not just the adults enjoyed the event, some younger guests were excited for both the soup and the art. Landon Claytor’s favorite part was…
“Having the soup,” Claytor said.
And Quade Kimble’s was…
“Getting the necklace that I got,” Kimble said.
They also came to a quick agreement on their favorite soup.
“The corn, yeah the corn,” Claytor and Kimble said.
Organizers say they hope to continue growing the event in the future.
“The hope is that we end up with so many artists and restaurants that we either have to split them between the classroom and the gallery or just get an entirely different space so that it's just a huge event for us,” Lee said.
Lee is certain this event will return year after year.
