Beatrice man sentenced to life in prison for killing partner
Christopher Milke convicted of first-degree murder; children were in the home at the time
BEATRICE, Neb. — A Nebraska man convicted of killing his partner while his children were in the home was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.
A Gage County judge sentenced 53-year-old Christopher Milke to life in prison for first-degree murder in the killing of 42-year-old Tammy Leslie.
The judge also ordered consecutive sentences on additional convictions, including kidnapping, use of a firearm to commit a felony, false imprisonment and tampering with evidence.
Under Nebraska law, first-degree murder is a Class I-A felony, carrying a mandatory life sentence.
Milke was convicted last month following a jury trial. Jurors heard testimony from the couple’s children, along with investigators and medical experts. Prosecutors presented evidence tied to Leslie’s death, including autopsy findings and details from the Nebraska State Patrol investigation.
The charges stem from Milke’s arrest in September 2024 at his Beatrice home, where authorities said the children were present during the incident.
