Mustangs Gallop Away in the 2nd Half
STANTON - It was the Sutton Pohlman Show in Stanton America Friday night.

STANTON - It was the Sutton Pohlman Show in Stanton America Friday night, as the Mustangs QB scored 4 times on the ground and once through the air, leading Stanton to a 42-20 win over Clarkson-Leigh.
It was all Patriots early, as they chewed up more than half the clock in the 1st quarter on their way to an 8-0 lead, thanks to a 4th-down conversion pass from QB Lance Paprocki to TE Carter Hanel, followed by a Paprocki 1-yard plunge.
But Stanton responded early in the 2nd period with big runs of 26 and 19 yards by Pohlman, setting up a 1-yard keeper by the QB, which cut the Clarkson-Leigh advantage to 8-6 after a failed 2-point conversion.
The Mustangs came right out of the halftime chute, with a 55-yard scoring scamper by Pohlman a minute into the 3rd quarter, which put Stanton out in front for good. 20 unanswered points put the Mustangs up by double-digits for most of the second half.
It was still a big night for the Patriots' Paprocki, who finished with 143 yards on 22 carries and 3 scores. But it wasn't enough to overcome Pohlman's performance -- 241 yards on 20 rushes, 4 TDs and one scoring toss to Trey Elbert.
Stanton (3-1) heads to West Point-Beemer next Friday, while Clarkson-Leigh (2-2) is home to face Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
